How international students apply

Application deadlines
As a rule, by the end of April at most faculties; the Faculty of Architecture and Design — much earlier because of the talent exam; several faculties run a second round in summer. Check the faculty website.
Entrance exams
  • Architecture and design — talent exam.
  • Other faculties — usually no exams, ranking by school certificate; with strong competition, grades in mathematics/physics are considered.
Documents
  • online application and application fee;
  • nostrified school certificate (decision or proof of filing by the faculty deadline);
  • official translation of the certificate;
  • proof of Slovak language level — as required by the faculty.

International students apply on general terms. Faculty selection, documents, deadlines and the dormitory are covered by turnkey admission.

Dormitory and costs

STU has its own dormitories in Bratislava (Mladosť, Mladá garda, Jura Hronca, Nikosa Belojanisa, Dobrovičova and others). A place for a first-year student is roughly 90–170 € per month (2026, check the STU dormitory website). Full yearly budget — in the cost calculator.

FAQ

Do I need exams to get into STU?

At most faculties — no, admission is based on the ranking of school certificates. The exception is the Faculty of Architecture and Design with a talent exam. Competition at FIIT is high and mathematics grades matter.

Can I study at STU in English?

Selected programmes are taught in English — they are paid. Core study in Slovak is tuition-free; we help you learn Slovak before the studies start.
